KwaZulu Natal Bursaries 2020
There are a couple of bursaries available within this province, however, the most prominent is those offered by the KwaZulu-Natal Health Department as there are multiple challenges within this province for provision of practical health solutions. Their current strategic planning includes the promotion of healthy lifestyles, improving of high-quality health care, management and combatting of diseases across all spectrums, delivering sufficient excellence emergency care, upgrading hospital care and support systems.
They aim at improving the access, efficiency, equity and effectiveness of the public health care system within the province. The main outcome they strive for will be the decrease of mortality caused by preventable illnesses. Thus, if you love medicine, caring for those who need it most and would love to make a difference, you are in the right place.
KWAZULU-NATAL BURSARIES AVAILABLE
The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health offers bursaries within a variety of fields. This Bursary program aids in filling openings, or positions within the Provincial clinics and hospitals.
They may include:
- Health Science
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
- Nursing Optometry
- Occupational Therapy
- Oral Hygiene
- Clinical Associates
- Dental Therapy
KWAZULU-NATAL BURSARIES: REQUIREMENTS
Candidates must be permanent South African residents who live within KwaZulu-Natal, and has a valid South African ID Document. Candidates must be prepared to enter into a work agreement for the duration as stipulated by the bursary board.
Candidates applying will be required to have the following:
- Grade 12 Results
- Must live within KwaZulu-Natal
- Must be in need of financial aid
- Proficient in English (read, write and speak)
- Provide proof of acceptance at a University
- Must not be holding any other bursary
- Must not yet have completed a diploma or degree
- Must be committed to learn, in addition to a willingness to work
Candidates currently studying within one of the fields mentioned may also apply, also individuals with disabilities are invited to apply. Bursary amounts and inclusions will depend on the financial need of each candidate.

KWAZULU-NATAL BURSARIES: APPLICATION
KwaZulu-Natal bursaries online applications processes are not available. It is however highly recommended, to get into contact with your local Government Hospital, as they will also have application forms available. Applications collected from a hospital must be returned to that same hospital.

Only candidates who are successful will be notified. Each bursary awarded will come with a service agreement, this agreement will be for the same duration as that of the bursary. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted and an interview will then be scheduled before the final selection process starts.
KWAZULU-NATAL BURSARIES: CLOSING DATE
Applications can be made available during May up until August each year, these are for study the following year. Students are encouraged to carefully consider this career path.
You must be willing to work with people in rural areas, disabled and the disadvantaged. Health Care Work is a passion, not a means to an end in respect to work.
